Advanced materials are of crucial importance for the energy supply in a future sustainable world. The First World Materials Summit was initiated by the Chinese and European Materials Societies, C-MRS and E-MRS in 2007. The First Summit was hosted in Lisbon on the 4 October 2007, under the auspices of the Portuguese Presidency of the European Union on the topic of “Materials Research: Key to Meeting Energy Needs and Climate Change”

The Second World Materials Summit will be held on Oct 12-15, 2009 in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China. The main interests will be focused on ‘advanced energy materials and sustainable development of the society’. The summit will invite about 100 distinguished scientists, governmental oficials and entrepreneurs all over the world to present the current industrial status, recent research achievements, and government policies in the ield of advanced materials for energy application and to discuss the development policies and the future of the advanced energy materials. This summit will be very important to the sustainable development of the modern society. Also all the participants will spend a good time in the historic and beautiful Suzhou City, 50 miles from Shanghai City. |
